BKS Telescope Assembly – Stage 3 – The Single Fork Mount

The powerhouse of the telescope and one of the main reasons away from the superb optics that I chose this telescope.  

Main features of the NexStar Evolution Mount:-

• Manual release clutches and precision machined worm gears for both axes providing excellent tracking.
• USB charge port
• 4 x Aux Ports – utilised to connect hand controller, Star Sense, Motorised focuser.
• Fully motorized computer go-to: After automatically aligning with StarSense, select and go to objects with a tap on your smartphone.
• Rechargeable lithium-ion battery with enough power for 10 hours of continuous observing.
• Built-in WiFi: No Hand controller required, just use your smartphone which connects to the telescope via WiFi.
• Tray lighting / logo and WiFi lighting
• Two captive attachment bolts on the Wedge and excellent locating zones on both the Wedge and the bottom of the mount position the unit precisely. A single threaded attachment bolt is located the top of the unit – I keep this attached to the unit and just loosen to remove thus preventing any accidental dropping of mount!. As you can see a hefty handle is built into the mount arm to aid in carrying the unit.
